The Weber Genesis E-330 is one of the best selling gas grills on the market right now. Given that it costs around $800 (on discount at a major retailer like Amazon) this achievement has to tell you that Weber is doing something right with this grill.
In this review we’ll dissect this beautifully made gas grill and see why it is so popular.
Weber Genesis E-330 Features
Before we get started, just a quick rundown of the features you get with the Genesis E-330:
– 3 Stainless steel burners, 38,000 BTU
– 12,000 BTU side burner
– sear station
– 637 inches total cooking area (507 primary, 130 warming rack)
– porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grates
– porcelain-enameled flavorizer bars
– 2 x stainless steel side tables
– front-mounted control panel
– heavy-duty casters
– tool hooks
– precision fuel gauge (LP gas)
– electronic ignition
So, you get pretty much everything you need on a gas grill.
Do yourself a favor and use a socket wrench instead of the tool provided.
Once assembled you can move the grill to where it should be on some very effective heavy duty casters. Despite its weight, the grill is really easy to move around on these. They can lock, and that’s certainly recommended once you have parked it where you want it.
Getting flames is easy once you have connected the gas. One click of the electronic igniter and you’re on your way. How fast the grill will gain heat with all three burners going will depend a little bit on the environment. On a normal, pleasant day with average temperatures you can expect to get to 500 degrees in about 10 – 12 minutes.
This just goes to show that, despite many people always carrying on about Weber’s low BTU ratings, the actual design of the product is more important. We’ve seen Char-Broil and other cheaper brands that don’t cook as well or evenly as Webers despite putting out hundreds of extra BTU.
Steak junkies, rejoice. The sear burner on the Genesis E-330 will soon become one of your favorite features. It makes for some sizzling steak grilling, and the grate leaves nice, thick sear marks.
In our Genesis E-310 review we noted how evenly heat is distributed throughout the grill, and that’s true of the E-330 as well. There are simply no cold spots and even food stuck in the corners of the grill cook surprisingly evenly.
The side burner is a useful addition. Use it to heat food up, fry some onions, whatever you need an extra little burner for.
One thing we have to point out is that there is very little resistance/feedback on the knobs. Some people have mentioned that they accidentally turned the gas on by simply pulling a cover over the grill. This is something to watch out for as it is very easy to accidentally turn the gas knobs. Of course, for safety sake, you should turn the gas off at the tank once you’re done cooking.
Weber Genesis E-330 User Experiences
To give you a better idea of what you can expect from this grill, here are some actual results from verified purchasers of the Weber Genesis E-330:
“Once all that was taken care of, I fired it up full blast and it got up to 500 degrees in less than 10 minutes. I cooked my first steak on this grill tonight and the outcome was perfect.” Jeff True (Amazon.com Verified Purchase)
“I have never grilled on something this good. This really has no “hot spots” as I have become accustomed to. There are three burners that work great and ignite right away. There is also a sear burner that really works. In less then ten minutes I can throw any kind of meat on there and have a perfect sear in minutes, then move to a lower burner setting and actually cook the meat. The sear is unbelievable.” Patrick K. Miller (Amazon.com Verified Purchase)
“I was torn between getting this grill with the sear burner or the other one for $100 less. Trust me, the sear burner is absolutely 100% worth it! I can brown my meat to keep the good stuff in a few minutes. The flavorizer bars are an awesome idea, and add lots of flavor to my food. While this grill only has 38,000 BTU’s don’t let it fool you. The first time I turned this grill on, it went from 0-400 Degree’s in 4 minutes, Literally.” J. Shays (Amazon.com Verified Purchase)
